When the birds don't steal all our berries, our 25 - 30 blueberry bushes yield more berries than we can eat or freeze. We generally have blueberries from mid to late May thru August. We are not certified "organic", but we don't use any pesticides on our crops. If you are looking for a great, healthy fruit you should consider the Blackcurrants. Blackcurrants have a high concentration of: anthocyanins; polyphenolic substances; antioxidants; vitamin C; and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Their tartness also lends itself to mixing with other fruits, especially in jams and juices. Gooseberries are edible and can be eaten raw, or cooked as an ingredient in desserts, such as pies, fools and crumbles. Early pickings are generally sour and more appropriate for culinary use. Gooseberries are also used to flavor beverages and meat sauces, and can be made into fruit wines and teas. Gooseberries can be preserved in the form of jams, and dried fruit. Call ahead to find out what & how much we have available starting in late May or early June. Prices are variable depending on the fruit & quantity and subject to change on short notice. Prices are generally by the ounce, see Greenacres Farm Stand facebook page for 2023 price after the 1st of June.
